  • BRINGING NEW AIRS TO THE CIRCUS ARTS, CIRCA TO OPEN THE 2013 GREC FESTIVAL

    A circus show with music by Shostakovich? That is what we can look forward to in “Opus”, by Circa, a company that our city has taken to its heart and which will open the festival at the Teatre Grec on July 1 and 2 this year. In this show, the Australian company explore the language of the circus, their breath-taking acrobatic skills accompanied by the Russian composer’s string quartets, performed live by Quatuor Debussy.

    Listen up, everybody! The Grec 2012 Festival of Barcelona is about to begin! It will start with a great party, open to all, with free admission, featuring the fusion rhythms of Canteca de Macao and La Troba Kung-Fú and “Pedalejant cap al cel”, a show by the Antwerp-based aerial and visual theatre company Theater Tol. Then, starting the very next day, July 1, the city will host a huge programme of theatre, dance, circus, the finest music and many other activities, right through to July 31.

  • El Grec i la UPF col·laboren en la formació de futurs periodistes

    Conscient que el seu paper no es limita a l’exhibició d’espectacles sinó també a actuar com a motor de la vida cultural de Barcelona, el Grec Festival de Barcelona, torna a col·laborar enguany amb la Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) en una acció destinada a formar professionals del periodisme especialitzats en arts escèniques.
    Gràcies al conveni subscrit entre ambdues institucions, el Grec facilitarà la participació d’alguns dels artistes que integren la programació d’enguany en les classes de l’assignatura “Periodisme cultural”.

  • Ramon Simó is the new director of the Grec

    The theatre director and stage designer Ramon Simó is to be the director of the Grec for the next four years, replacing Ricardo Szwarcer. His appointment was announced by Jaume Ciurana, the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Knowledge, Creativity and Innovation.

    Born in Tarragona in 1961, Ramon Simó graduated in Philosophy and Educational Science from Barcelona University. He teaches at the Institut del Teatre and directed the Fira de Teatre al Carrer de Tàrrega in 1996, 1997 and 1998. He has also been a member of the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya Advisory Council.
